New Elementary Door Locking Policy

posted Nov 20, 2014, 9:37 AM by Tom Bear
In the interests of preserving instructional time and keeping our students safe, we are making some changes to the opening and closing of the elementary doors.  Some of our students have been arriving to school too early when there is no supervision, so in the interest of student safety, the elementary doors will be unlocked at 7:55 A.M.  In the afternoon, we find that our students are distracted from learning the last fifteen minutes of the day when they know their loved ones are in the hallway.   We will open the elementary doors in the afternoon at 3:15 P.M. so parents can meet their children at the classrooms at 3:20 P.M. Parents should wait until 3:15 to arrive at school when the doors will be unlocked. The doors will lock at 4 P.M. giving parents time to see their child’s teacher after school, if there is a concern.  We know that you share with us the desire to keep our students learning until the end of the day and to keep our children safe.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Singley.
