Moravia Community School Enrollment Up

It has been another stellar year for enrollment for the Moravia Community Schools. Over all enrollment is up 34 students from last year. Eight of the last nine years Moravia has seen enrollment growth. The school now has 405 students in grades PK through 12th. This is the first time we have gone over 400 students in the last 15 years and we have never seen more students in the elementary with over 240. Open enrollment from neighboring districts also grew. We have 65 students coming to Moravia, that is up 17, and only 34 going out. This is a net gain of 31 students which is the most Moravia has ever had since open enrollment started. I think this speaks highly of what others think of the quality of education and programs Moravia has to offer. Enrollment numbers will only grow as our junior and senior classes are the two smallest classes in the building and larger classes are coming in at the PK and kindergarten classes.

The new building project could not have come at a better time. Six new classrooms are to be completed for the 15-16 school year while the new gym, wrestling room and weight room are projected to be complete in January of 2015. The district was not a part of FEMA’s safe room grant so the building project is proceeding as originally planned. The scheduled completion time has not changed.
